How much does it cost to paint a house in Central Florida?
It's the first question almost every homeowner asks us — and the honest answer is "it depends." But that's not very helpful when you're trying to budget, so here are the real ranges we see across the Orlando and greater Central Florida area in 2026, plus exactly what pushes a quote up or down.
Typical 2026 price ranges
These are ballpark ranges for professional, properly-prepped work using quality coatings — not the cheapest spray-and-go quote you'll find on a flyer.
| Project | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Exterior — small single-story home | $3,000 – $6,000 |
| Exterior — average 2,000–2,500 sq ft home | $5,500 – $10,000 |
| Exterior — large / two-story home | $9,000 – $16,000+ |
| Interior — single room | $400 – $900 |
| Interior — whole-home repaint | $3,500 – $9,000 |
| Kitchen cabinets (refinish) | $2,500 – $6,000 |
Ranges are estimates for the Central Florida market and will vary with your specific home. The only accurate number is a written, in-home quote.
What actually changes the price
- Square footage & height. More wall area and second stories (more setup, ladders, and labor) are the biggest drivers.
- Surface condition. Florida sun and humidity cause peeling, chalking, and mildew. Failing surfaces need more prep — washing, scraping, priming — which is where lasting results are won or lost.
- Coating quality. Premium, UV- and moisture-resistant systems cost more up front but last years longer here than budget paint.
- Color & number of coats. Dramatic color changes and deep colors often need an extra coat.
- Trim, doors, and detail work. Lots of trim, shutters, and railings add labor.
- Repairs. Stucco cracks, wood rot, and caulking are common in our climate and may be quoted separately.
Why the cheapest quote usually costs more
In Florida especially, the failure point is almost never the paint itself — it's prep. A low quote that skips pressure-washing, mildew treatment, priming, and proper caulking will look great for a season and then peel. Paying twice is the most expensive option of all. When you compare quotes, compare the prep and the warranty, not just the bottom line.
